Plot Synopsis for the six issue graphic novel "Two Detectives and a Saint", a Mystery In Scarlet City production. 

It was an era of gaslight and gangs, two detectives, a very dynamic duo, hunt the criminal element of Scarlet City.  They are Nathan Shome, and his friend Slick Silver.  When first we meet our heroes, they are engaged to solve the mystery of who shot a man in the head and dumped the body at the residence of the world’s two most famous movie stars. 

From this grisly murder, our heroes plunge into a tale that has no bottom.  Nothing is what it seems as the villainous Mr. W captures our two heroes.  Who is Mr. W working for?  The Snake King, the shadow Prince, or maybe the greatest villain of them all, Rick Milton?  Our two heroes meet a dame, a saint in human form who runs a small church.  Is she what she seems?  What’s her connection to murder, extortion and the numbers racket?  How could someone so good be in bed with people who are so evil?

The higher the stakes, the more Nathan and Slick come to play.  However, the villains of our story are up to the task.  A bogus summons, a false clue, leads Nathan and Slick head-long into a deadly trap.  Can our heroes escape? 

Escape they do, but the villains run (again), and Nathan and Slick go off in hot pursuit.  Through the metallic jungle that is Scarlet City in the dead of the quiet evening-fall, Nathan and Slick pursue their quarry.  What they see at the end is enough to make their blood freeze, it’s the saint, and she proves to everyone why she is what she is. 

Now the villains throw off the mask, and threaten to take the game to a new level.  Nathan and Slick find out that the world’s most famous movie star has some serious talents other than just making movies.  The saint and the two detectives team up to take down the Snake King, and what they find at the end is a surprise no one saw coming.

Years earlier, a good man died for a just cause.  Nathan and Slick honor that memory every day.  In a flashback to their youth, our two heroes recount what spurs their crusade to do good.  What is the connection between this ancient story and the situation our heroes now find themselves in?  Where does the saint figure into all of this? 

The shadow Prince makes his move.  Who is he and where did he come from?  A midnight meeting at the docs and our heroes hold the line.  Rick Milton makes his move.  The saint shows yet again why she is a saint, and our two heroes show yet again why, in addition to being great heroes, they are the most inseparable of best friends.
